Khairy not bothered with hecklers at meeting

(The Star) KUALA LUMPUR: A group of hecklers, believed to be Umno members, tried to disrupt the Titiwangsa Umno divisional meeting here yesterday which was officiated by Umno deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

The hecklers, who were seated at the back of the hall where the meeting was held, started to shout five minutes after Khairy started to read his speech.

The group continued to interject Khairy during every sentence of his speech that lasted more than 30 minutes, but the latter was unperturbed and ignored the group's antics.

The hall reverberated in a chaotic manner the moment Khairy said in his speech that Mat Rempit (illegal motorcycle racers) only involved the Malays.

Later at a press conference, Khairy, who was asked about the disturbance, said it was a norm for Umno Youth members to get excited and that he had nothing to feel suspicious about.

On an unrelated matter, Khairy said he would get the cooperation of the Federal Territory Umno Youth chief Datuk Norza Zakaria to look into a matter where Malay traders at Keramat who have been waiting for Kuala Lumpur City Hall to build a proper market for the past 20 years.
